The Situation
I do fanfic recommendations -- all types, all stripes (including the rainbow ones). For an idea of the sorts of fic rec'd, check out the interests list (which is not exhaustive). For the specifics, click here to get to the tag list. I include upsides and downsides for every fic, and often a meta discussion to boot. Occasionally I'll get down with my bad self and just do meta.
The Deal
The stories I rec do not necessarily have to be good. I will, of course, mention if they are, but otherwise, these are just the stories that managed to be interesting enough to keep my attention and make me think. The "make me think" part is key -- in addition to the upsides and downsides, there are sometimes "discussions" behind cut tags, which are basically my excuse for talking a great deal about an aspect of the fic that absolutely dazzled (or puzzled, or angered) me.
Your End of It
Comments on what I recommend, or on the meta, are highly appreciated. I follow McIntyre's First Law: "Under the right circumstances, anything I tell you may be wrong." If you think I'm blowing hot air -- or if you think I'm spot on -- let me know. And while you're at it, give a little love to the fic authors if you like what you read.
A Noise in the Back
I try to put up at least one rec a month, which means that this is a feast-or-famine-style rec journal. It won't clog your flist, but on the other hand, it won't provide a fic junkie's fix. When it does show up, it's likely to be large.
The Cops Bust In
Just to keep things on the up-and-up: I don't put up warnings unless I actually want to warn people of something -- so if there's a character death, I'm probably not going to tell you. I put egregious spoilers behind those discussion cut tags. I tend to rec a great deal of slash, and I don't like putting up ratings -- if you're too young, you know you're too young, so do the right thing. C&D letters are not part of this girl's complete breakfast.
